As we begin a new year, MTT Shipping Sdn. Bhd. is collaborating with The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) to create awareness on Autism. The works of art in this year’s calendar were hand drawn by Husna Qisdeena, a student from NASOM. With the beautiful pictures drawn by the truly gifted Husna, we aim to raise awareness about Autism by understanding and identifying the signs of Autism, in the hope that this will help to encourage individuals to understand, accept and respect people with Autism.
The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM)
In 1987, NASOM was established by a group of parents and professionals to provide a range of support services to assist people with Autism, especially children and their immediate family members. While there is no cure for Autism, Early Intervention Program provided in NASOM Centres can in fact make a big difference to the lives of many children with Autism.
Over the past 33 years, NASOM has established 22 centres across Malaysia to help people with Autism to achieve their full potential through various programmes and services specially designed with emphasis on skills acquisition and behaviour improvements. Unfortunately, NASOM can only afford to operate 16 centres today due to the lack of funds in sustaining the program in a few centres as these services are often provided at a very minimal fee.
As a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) which is dependent on public charity and donation, NASOM requires continuous support to fulfil the growing demand for resources including volunteers and funding for activities and operation of new centres. Thus, your assistance in any form including volunteers, equipment and monetary assistance are most welcomed by NASOM. With the aim of helping more people with Autism and their immediate family members, NASOM hopes to operate new centres especially in remote and under-served districts in Malaysia.
Your donation to NASOM would be highly appreciated by the people with Autism and their loved ones.
Any donation to NASOM qualifies for income tax deduction as the association is a recognised tax-exempted charitable organization with the No: LHDN 01/35/42/51/179-6.3400
